Britain's What's On Event Guide
Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society talk
For the first daytime Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society meeting of the summer, longtime member Paula Sutton will demonstrate a way of using sawdust in an old roasting tin to smoke-fire bisque pottery pieces. This technique is something that can be done in any back garden with minimal equipment, and is quite quick as it only takes a couple of minutes per item. If attendees wish they can bring their own pieces to be smoked - they just need to be pre-fired to bisque temperature (small burnished or textured pieces in white or terracotta clay work best). This will be followed by a chat about burnishing clay to give a smooth, shiny surface.
The meeting will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall (HP16 0DZ) on Friday 26th July from 2-4pm. For information about the Society see www.buckspotters.com. We are also on Facebook and Instagram.
