Borough Market's Market Explorers Garden

London’s iconic Borough Market is bringing back its Market Explorers Garden this summer, giving children of primary school age the opportunity to learn in a fun and engaging way about where their food comes from.

Based in the Market Hall, kids can expect to find two interactive stations to get stuck into. A What’s In The Box station allows children to get their hands dirty and identify foods from the Market’s traders through feel and smell. The Wonky Veg Painting station showcases the wide range of seasonal foods available at the Market, while demonstrating to kids that wonky veg is just as beautiful as perfect looking veg, through giving them the opportunity to paint a still life picture that will be hung on a magical looking tree in the Market.

As a charitable trust, Borough Market is committed to supporting young people in its community and helping them learn invaluable skills about food. The Market Explorer’s Garden forms part of its ongoing Market Explorer’s programme, an educational hub for children to build on their food and cooking knowledge.
The series of FREE workshops will run every Wednesday from 7th August until 28th August from 11am – 3pm every Wednesday. Children (accompanied by adults) can drop in at any time to take part in activities, with no booking required.
