Workhouse Lives
A History Day at Llanfyllin’s Victorian Workhouse. Illustrated talks on the Paupers of Church Stretton, based on recent research into the lives of all those living in the Church Stretton Workhouse in 1881, and on the Masters and Matrons who ran the Llanfyllin Workhouse from 1841 to 1982. Also an account of a new project to investigate the Workhouse school: its teachers and its children. Historical displays; guided tour; lunch and refreshments available.
