Open Day at the Stitch in Time Group

A series of events and demonstrations by the Stitch in Time Group, who are based at Carmarthen shire Museum

7th Aug OPEN HOUSE session
Visitors are invited to meet Carmarthenshire Museum’s ‘Stitch in Time’ group.
Members will be working on their current projects and are looking forward to meeting you!

14th Aug Crochet
Crochet derives from knitting, but has evolved into a separate craft. Its name derives from the word ‘croc’ or hook in French, and uses a hook, a single needle and is worked one stitch at a time. We will be demonstrating traditional and Tunisian crochet at this session

21st Aug Slow Stitch
‘Slow stitch’ is a new art form built on old traditions and explores the journey of creating beauty with thread rather than working towards an end product

28th Aug Cross Stitch & Tent Stitch
Cross Stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled pattern are used to form a picture.
Tent stitch is half a cross-stitch and is often used in wool work, where the yarn is too thick for cross-stitch
