Funeral homes host quiz night to raise money for Barnardo’s

Whitehaven and Maryport funeral homes will be hosting a quiz night at The Stock Exchange, Tangier Street, this August to raise money for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Members of the community are invited to Co-op Funeralcare Whitehaven and Maryport’s charity quiz on Friday 16th August, from 7pm.

Hosted by local celebrant Will Tillotson, the quiz night will feature a number of supporting activities such as a raffle, where entrants will have the chance to win vouchers for local hairdressers, beauticians, cake and sandwich shops, as well as books, bags, chocolates, hampers and much more.

After the quiz there will be plenty of good music and guests will be able to have a boogie and enjoy drinks from the bar. Buckets will also be passed around to collect loose change.

The winning team will also receive a hamper made up of sweets, wine, biscuits, fudge, cheese and crackers.

Jade Tomlinson, Funeral Arranger at Whitehaven funeral care, said: “We’d like to invite the local community to join us and help raise funds for Barnardo’s. It promises to be a great evening accompanied by games, good food and music.

“As a member-owned business, Co-op is always keen to support important causes however we can and following our charity partnership with Barnardo’s and mission to raise £5 million to support young people, it seemed only natural to support such a great cause.

“Preparations are already underway, and Will has been hard at work creating a fun quiz with plenty of questions for all ages – including all about Whitehaven, music, and sports rounds.”

The fundraiser is part of Co-op’s charity partnership with Barnardo’s, through which it aims to raise £5 million to support 750,000 young people across the UK with their current and future needs. This includes helping young people and their families with basic needs like access to food, mental wellbeing support and opportunities for the future.
Tickets cost £5 per person and teams can be made up of up to seven people. Raffle tickets also cost £5 per strip. To buy your tickets and book your place at the event, please contact whitehaven1@letsco-operate.com
