Newlands Round

The Newlands Round is part of a spine of fine mountains which separate Derwentwater and Buttermere. The valley, below, Newlands is thought to be the most attractive of all Lakeland valleys.

The 3 main mountains of the Newlands Round are Robinson, Hindscarth and Dale Head. In addition to these it is straightforward to add Maiden Moor and Catbells to complete a circuit above the valley.

Starting in Little Town next to the excuitsite church of Newlands we will climb the steep slopes of Robinson first. Once up on the ridge it is straightforward to complete Hidscarth and Dale Head, the terrain good for easy walking. The final pull up Maiden Moor is compensated for by stunning views across Detwentwater. A great end to an excellent hike.

Jonathan, the mountain leader and guide for the walk, loves the outdoors. His childhood holidays in the Lake District and subsequent climbing of the Munros instilled a passion and knowledge for the mountains of Britain. He carries this passion to this day.
