Illuminated Sheep: Hadrian's Wall Art Trail and Urban Adventure

The Illuminated Sheep Art Trail returns to the region again this year with new sites across Hadrian’s Wall Country.

The exhibition by artist Deepa Mann-Kler and led by Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham, aims to encourage visitors to #FindTheFlock and explore the rich landscape and heritage of the area from Maryport to Arbeia. Each sheep will be out on location and ready for visitors to find from Sunday 1 September – Thursday 26 September 2024.

Individual members of the flock, customised by local community champions, businesses and organisations, will take up residence at locations along the length of Hadrian’s wall to form the Art Trail before coming together as a full herd for the Urban Adventure in October.

Visitors can explore the route throughout September with the exhibition culminating in the coming together of the flock at three urban locations in October. The illuminated multi-coloured light display will appear at the Toffee Factory Thursday 3 October – Friday 4 October, Segedunum Friday 11 October – Saturday 12 October, and Newcastle Cathedral Tuesday 22 October – Thursday 24 October.
