Come and meet Sarah Stevenson at the Heritage Centre for one of our ‘Meet the Maker’ events.
‘Ambition Artwork’ is a different kind of art business. Sarah says “I’m not a trained artist, in fact, I’m a midwife, but I’ve always loved drawing and rediscovered this during lockdown in 2020.
Prior to then I hadn’t picked up a pencil since 2016 and before that it was 20 years ago at school, where I didn’t study art, but would sneak off to the art rooms to do something more fun than what was on my timetable!
As you can see my main love is pencil drawing and I enjoy letting the image just sort of form as I go along, using different shading, directions and textures. My art is not super realism, I like photography for that, but I try to capture something about the images, be they landscape, animal or person, that speaks to the viewer, especially when they have been commissioned and mean something special to that person. For this reason if you order a commission I like to stay in regular contact while drawing for you and give progress updates so that you can feel part of the process and end result.
Expanding on my art as images I have developed 2 ranges of art inspired clothing, ‘Ambition ArtWear’ and ‘Ambition SportWear’. Always looking to continue developing and offering new experiences the plan for Ambition Artwork is to be able to begin offering Art Therapy services along with having my own small gallery and studio space. This may be a way off in the future, but it is the dream and very much my own ambition.
A selection of Sarah’s work is available to purchase for a 2 week period in our shop or directly from her on her Meet the Maker day on Saturday 14th September.
Please drop by to say hello and support local creatives and small businesses.
