529 years of Loughborough Grammar School - Tower Opening and Exhibition
Heritage Open Day: The 1852 Building will be open including the tower, which is accessed by 59 steps up a spiral staircase, giving a great view of Loughborough and surrounding districts. Items from the School's archives will be available to view in adjacent areas. As part of Loughborough's Heritage Open Weekend, learn about one of the school’s most famous alumni, World War II fighter pilot Johnnie Johnson through artefacts associated with him. There will also be information on display about the school during WWI and WWII. Visitors will be able to learn about 220 dates in the School's History and there will be the opportunity to see never before seen materials from the School’s archive, such as the 36 A2 sheets of the 1850 contract to build the school.
