Heritage Open Day: Meet the former inhabitants of Tathwell, once part of the extensive Lincolnshire estates of the Chaplin family whose impressive monuments line the church and whose bodies lie beneath the chancel. Their servants, tenants and an aristocratic friend are represented by their gravestones outside.
Built on the highest point in the village, the church commands a view of Tathwell Lake. Entering through a timber-framed porch one discovers an interesting mix of Norman, Georgian and Victorian architecture. A range of important monuments and two fine stained glass windows all have a story to tell. Historian on duty, guide leaflet available, tours as detailed.
Sat 14 Sep:10.00 - 16.00; Sun 15 Sep:10.00 - 16.00; Free Entry.
