Step back in time at St George's Wootton
Heritage Open Day: Immerse yourself in the medieval history of St George's Church, through picture trails, dressing-up, bell-ringing, craft and food. Spot medieval features of the Church, dress-up in medieval garb, carve clay faces and sample peasant fare. St George's Church dates back to c.1250. Taking inspiration from medieval features of the Church and working in partnership with Wootton Heritage Organisation, this all-age event will include:
-a children's trail, featuring the Church's resident squirrel
-a pictorial and written guide to the Church aimed at adults
-dressing-up for children and adults in medieval peasant costumes
-an opportunity to sample the medieval staple of potage on bread
-plainsong singing by the resident monk
-sculpting clay faces based upon stone carvings and portraits in Church
The Church will be open 10am-3pm and visitors are welcome to drop-in anytime.
