Heritage Open Day: Come and visit Gedling House a Grade 2 listed Georgian mansion, now a Buddhist meditation Centre. Enjoy our lovely building and grounds - we’ll have history talks, displays, meditation taster, children's activities, refreshments. and stalls Gedling House was built in 1790 as the home of Nottingham banker Thomas Smith. Over the next 230+ years it was home to many significant Nottingham families, the war office, the museum service, wedding venue, offices and today it is the home of Kadampa Meditation Centre Nottingham.
We welcome our local community – on our open day you can learn about the history of the house and occupants, attend a talk by local historian Mo Cooper, try a taster meditation session and enjoy refreshments in our grand dining room or gardens - we’ll also have activities for children. Access to ground floor and grounds only.
