Guided Tours of St Mary's Church, Lowdham
Heritage Open Day: A rare chance to see ancient graffiti and understand some of the history of our medieval village church. Jan Hewitt, former Churchwarden of St Mary's, will be offering free Guided Tours of our splendid C12th Norman Church which has been a place of worship for almost 1,000 years. Jan will be inviting us to discover:-
• The fascinating history of the building since Norman times together with its architecture through the ages.
• The secrets of the ancient Font and its possible connection with the Minster.
• An intriguing, hidden doorway and its purpose.
• The work of renowned Victorian Gothic Revivalist, Sir. George Gilbert Scott.
