Woburn Heritage Centre, exhibition

Heritage Open Day: Exhibition displaying information about the devastating great fire in Woburn of 300 yrs ago which resulted in the rebuilding of the town in the classical Georgian style of the day. When misfortune comes, treat it as a blessing and follow the journey taken to create one of the most elegant Georgian towns in Bedfordshire. The 300th anniversary of the destructive 1724 Woburn town fire will be marked by a special exhibition which will illustrate how Woburn rose like a phoenix from the ashes of this inferno into the beautiful Georgian village of today, designed by the famous C18 architect, Henry Flitcroft, who was asked by John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford, to draw up plans for its re-building.
