Britain's What's On Event Guide
Heritage, Sustainability and Education at Great St Mary's
Heritage Open Day: Great St Mary’s has been at the heart of Cambridge for over 800 years, and was central to the founding of the University. This is a chance to tour the building and hear about its history, including how it has been rebuilt and refurbished over the years, the part those who worshipped and preached here played in the Reformation, and royal encounters with the church. You will be able to take a close look at our 19th and 20th century stained glass, church furnishings, and galleries (complete with 17th century pews).
Alongside having a colourful history, the church is a place of living faith in the present day.
