Octavia Hill Birthplace House

Heritage Open Day: Octavia Hill was a social reformer with ideas still relevant today. Her work was to develop better housing, helping people help themselves. Using creative pursuits and open spaces she encouraged community activities. Her work on creating more parks in London and helping people access green spaces and open air visits led to the creation of the National Trust.

We showcase her work from the slums of London to model housing, through occupational therapy, the Army Cadets, recreational parks and social work.

The building itself is where she was born, where her family lived and worked, and has some beautiful architectural features and added artwork since the Trust took it on.
