The Minories - 'One Square Mile'
Heritage Open Day: The Minories is an historic building used for art exhibitions. For this year's festival it hosts a school's project looking at the history of St John's Green in the city. The ‘One Square Mile: Heritage on our Doorstep' exhibition celebrates St John's Green Primary School's National Lottery Heritage Fund project exploring Colchester's rich heritage. It includes displays of the pupils' artwork, a 3D cardboard model of Colchester, a timeline of the school's history, sound recordings and resources developed by pupils and teachers. Join our Pupil Tour Guides and explore the displays on 14 September, from 11.00 to 15.00.
The building now known as the Minories was acquired in 1731 by Isaac Boggis with wealth from the cloth trade.
