Heritage Open Day: St Peter and St Paul's Church marks 150 years since its restoration and we uncover its stories of the building, the vicars and local people. Discover what we have learned during our survey of the churchyard to record the historic gravestones. Following the 150th anniversary of its restoration this June, St Peter and St Paul's Church will host an exhibition looking at the history of the building, churchyard, and the people who have used it over the centuries. In 1874 its current appearance was created, thanks to public subscription, and we look into how this was done. We also uncovered some interesting stories about its vicars, from pious puritans and military heroes, to one whose life literally became a farce (performed on stage!).
