Tanfield Railway
Heritage Open Day: HODs at Tanfield will feature informative guided tours of our sheds to view the current restoration projects. Visitors can also explore the hidden stories of one of the world's first railway landscapes. At Tanfield Railway visitors will discover the astounding inventions which helped make the early modern north east an industrial region in a pre-industrial world.
Tanfield Railway volunteers offer a warm welcome. You can purchase hot and cold refreshments from the tea rooms at East Tanfield and Andrews House. Interpretation material will be around the site for visitors to learn more about our heritage.
Marley Hill yard area and its workshops will be open for guided tours to see the restoration work of our dedicated volunteers.
