Mr Peebles In The Park!
Heritage Open Day: Take a step back in time to 1890 and the creation of North and South Marine Parks - as told by Mr John Peebles, Head Gardener (played by local legend Ray Spencer). Join Mr Peebles as he takes you on a walking tour of the North and South Marine Parks - bringing to life the story around the creation of our parks, as told through his eyes and featuring excerpts from his diaries, which are stored in the South Tyneside Archives.
As you walk round, you'll hear anecdotes lifted from Mr Peebles diaries, you can listen to a local brass band in the restored Victorian bandstand and soak up the atmosphere of 'the jewel in the crown' of our town.
