St. Michael's Church, Shotwick
Heritage Open Day: St. Michael's church will be offering the opportunity to try out bell ringing under supervision. Tower Tours will be available. There will be four drop in guided walks of Shotwick village throughout the day. An active Grade I listed parish church dating from the 12th Century. Notable features include a carved Norman doorway, medieval arrow sharpening grooves, 17th/18th century furnishings - churchwardens' pew, box pews, three-decker pulpit.
Self guided tour sheets will be available for adults and children.
Demonstrations of bell ringing. Handbells available for use with instruction.
Tower tours to the roof of the tower for views around the surrounding countryside - sensible shoes and clothing essential. Limited to eight at a time.
