St Mary the Virgin Parish Church
Heritage Open Day: During the open day there will be opportunity to explore both the church and the extensive churchyard, enjoy home-made refreshments and, from 2.00pm, for younger children to participate in Unicorn Racing! This grade 1 listed building has parts which date from the 14th century, with many monuments and graves commemorating notable people from Manchester over the centuries. An active Christian community finds its home here including an accomplished church choir; the building is also seen on Coronation Street from time to time, masquerading as 'St Mary's Weatherfield'.
