Holy Name Church Guided Visit

Heritage Open Day: Church open Mon-Fri 1000-1200, & 1300-1600 Sat 7 Sep 1300-1700, Sun 8 Sep 1230-1700, which show how it is used for worship and the history of the building and the community worshipping here for the last century and a half. This Catholic Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, built and opened by the Jesuits in 1871, served as a parish Church for a densely populated area till late into the 20th c as the land around it was rebuilt for the University. It now serves as the Catholic Chaplaincy Church for the Universities. Using 19th c. technology it presented 12th c. Northern French Gothic to the people of Manchester. It remains a much loved and Church in Manchester with an active worshipping community also offering many concerts throughout the year.
