Heritage Open Day: Come to visit our Grade One listed 'Cast Iron' Church with its spectacular east window. One of only two churches in England supported by its cast iron frame, not the walls.. This 'Cast Iron' Church is an early example of an industrial structure, the Architect being Thomas Rickman and the builder, John Cragg, an iron founder and churchman. The building was erected and consecrated in 1815 art a cost of £7,500. The East Window was added in 1875 at a cost of £3000. Tucked away in the corner of the church is a smaller window erected by thew 'working classes'
