St Luke's Church Erleigh Road, Reading - Our Community
Heritage Open Day: St Luke's Church (1882-83) is a Victorian church built to serve the growing population of the Redlands area of Reading. Today, the Church continues to engage with our local multicultural community. St Luke's Church, Reading, is a Victorian church which was built in red brick to compliment the housing development which grew up around it. Last year, the Church celebrated 140 years since its foundation in 1882.
Materials celebrating this anniversary will be on display with information about the history of the buildings, music, stained glass windows etc. A number of the church's stained glass windows came from the studio of C.E. Kempe. The Church Hall was used as a VAD hospital during the First World War. Do come and find out about a romance which blossomed there and also explore our community garden. Refreshments will be available.
