300 Years of Worship on the site of the United Reformed Church
Heritage Open Day: Celebrate 300 years of worship on this site, with displays, a ploughman's lunch and cream teas. The site of our present buildings - in The Broadway at the heart of Chesham town centre - has been a place of worship and a base for witnesses since 1724, but the roots of the congregation are believed to go back much further. The building was originally constructed for an Independent Congregation. When it was re-built in 1886 it was by a Congregational Church. In 1972 the congregation joined the United Reformed Church.
The organ in the church dates from 1886 and is of historic note, since it is the first use of tubular-pneumatic action by the organ builder, Forster & Andrews.
