St. Mary's Church
Heritage Open Day: A Grade 1-Listed Church with graveyard set in Chesham's historic Old Town and bordering Lowndes Park. The only Grade I listed building in Chesham, St Mary's Church was built on the site of a Bronze Age stone circle of pudding stones, with parts of the Church building dating to the 12th century. It forms part of the Diocese of Oxford and is located in the heart of the picturesque Old Town. Remodelled in the 15th and 17th centuries, the Church is architecturally a mixture of English Gothic styles. It was remodelled and strengthened in the 1860s by George Gilbert Scott and again in the 20th century by Robert Potter.
