Heritage Open Day: Halton House, a Victorian Grade 2* House, previously the home of Alfred de Rothschild until 1918, now the Officers' Mess for RAF Halton. Royal Air Force, Halton's Museum, The Trenchard Museum and the James McCudden Flight Centre will also be open. A rare opportunity to visit Halton House, the 'party' House and weekend country residence of Alfred de Rothschild. Built between 1880 and 1884 in the style of a French Château, for over 30 years it provided the venue for Rothschild's opulent weekend parties for the high society of the day.
In 1918 Halton House and the estate was acquired by the Royal Air Force and for the past 100+ years Halton House has served as the Officer's Mess for RAF Halton, Wendover, Buckinghamshire.
