Heritage Open Day: Members of the Milton Keynes Rose Trust will describe the background and the development of the Rose and will lead visitors round some of the pillars marking the most important or unusual dates that are recorded there. The Milton Keynes Rose is an iconic work of public art, created by internationally-renowned artist, Gordon Young, situated in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes. The Rose, so named because its design reflects the symmetry of a flower, has over 100 pillars, many of which are inscribed with dates which celebrate or commemorate events and people who are important to the people of Milton Keynes. On Heritage Open Day, our volunteer trustees will be on hand to lead guided tours to some of the pillars which are relevant to the Heritage Open Day theme, and tell the stories behind those dates.
