Whitehall Historic House

Heritage Open Day: Built around 1500, Whitehall is a Grade II* listed Tudor house in the heart of Cheam Village. It opened as a Local Authority museum in 1978 following a campaign by the community. Displays tell the story of the house and the surrounding area. Guided tours offered throughout the day, plus younger visitors have the opportunity to explore the house with the Tudor Fashion Fun children’s trail and Millie the Mouse Spotters Guide! Current temporary exhibitions include: The Past (and Present) on Glass: Portraits by David Knights Whittome 1905-1918, and Dave Shrimpton 2024. Between 2014-2018, Sutton Archives digitised over 10,000 Glass Plate Negatives from a C20th photographer's studio which once existed on Sutton High Street.
