About this Event
Winchester City Mill - The Great Pilgrimage
Heritage Open Day: Out There Actions tell the story of the Great Pilgrimage of 1913, when women marched through Winchester on their way to London, campaigning for the Vote. This will be a short performance, repeated throughout the day, on demand. Winchester has long been associated with pilgrimage, since as far back as the Middle Ages. But, in 1913, another Great Pilgrimage passed through the city, as women from across the country converged on London, campaigning for the Vote. This piece of prose microtheatre, by performance troupe Out There Actions, tells their story, as relevant today as it was one hundred years ago.
