Heritage Open Day: TOUR OF THE HISTORIC CHURCH FIRST BUILT IN 1868, AND REBUILT IN 1987 AFTER A FIRE A BEAUTIFUL CHURCH DESIGNED BY EDWARD W. PUGIN, SON OF THE FAMOUS AUGUSTUS WELBY PUGIN. ST PAUL’S WAS OPENED IN 1868 AFTER COUNTESS DE FRONT LEFT A LEGACY FOR IT TO BE BUILT. ST PAUL’S HAS SURVIVED BOTH WW1 & WW2, BUT SUCCUMBED TO AN ARSON ATTACK IN 1987. A MASSIVE RESTORATION TOOK PLACE WHICH RESULTED IN THE REFURBISHED CHURCH OF TODAY.
