Stoneacre
Heritage Open Day: Enjoy free weekend entry to Stoneacre on the 14th and 15th of September. Joining Heritage Open Days for the first time, discover this fairy-tale hideaway just outside of Maidstone. Stoneacre is a 15th-century half-timbered Wealden Hall-House, surrounded by a glorious tiered garden. It was purchased in 1920 by Aymer Vallance, a follower of the Arts and Crafts movement. Open between 1100-1700 with last entry at 1630.
In honour of the Arts and Crafts history of the house, we are hosting a drop-in block printing activity in our second-hand bookshop from 1100-1600pm on both days. Learn more about the history of the man that rebuilt Stoneacre while creating an art piece of your own to take home and enjoy.
Stoneacre does not have a café, but we encourage you to bring along packed lunches and picnics to enjoy in the garden.
