Global Connections in Tunbridge Wells Cemetery
Heritage Open Day: Our theme this year is about global connections within our cemetery. Join us for a free Exhibition in Cemetery’s Chapel featuring some intriguing people from around the world buried in the cemetery. Our theme this year is about global connections within our Cemetery. Our Memorial Inscriptions group, who are in the process of transcribing and researching the older graves, have discovered some intriguing inscriptions suggesting connections across the globe.
For example, who was Lemuel Watts Bangs, born in New York, died in London, and buried in Tunbridge Wells? Why was a New Zealand mayor who died over 100 years ago buried in the cemetery.
Join us in the Cemetery Chapel on 7th and 8th September from 2-4pm for a free Exhibition featuring some of these people from around the world who are buried in the cemetery. Tea and cake will be available.
