Barrow Hills School
Heritage Open Day: Discover Barrow Hills School on this tour of the house and gardens. Great Roke, the principal building of Barrow Hills School was built in 1909 in the Arts and Crafts Style. The house was designed by the architects Buckland and Haywood Farmer and it has been said to be the most ambitious house undertaken by the partners as it is arguably one of the finest houses produced by the Birmingham Movement. Plasterwork is by Catterson-Smith Jnr. Visitors will be able to see the garden originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll, but since substantially altered.
