Guildford Quaker Meeting House (The Religious Society of Friends)

Heritage Open Day: The Meeting House is a Grade II Listed place of worship, opened well over 200 years ago, in 1806. The building, replaces the earlier place of worship and burying ground across the other side of North Street on the land now called 'Quakers Acre'. The Meeting House, built in the style of others of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, was erected on land bought from Mr Martyr at an initial cost of £752 12s 6d. It is built of brick and is roofed with slate. Initials of the Friends appointed to be responsible for the building of the Meeting House may be seen either side of the main door into the Meeting Room. Alterations were made in 1898 and again in 1913 to provide a porch and the upstairs room. A great deal more information can be found on the Meeting's website.
