Heritage Open Day: Visit this Grade I listed ancient Saxon church, which has over 1,000 years of history and stands in the peaceful grounds of Albury Park, within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Designed by the renowned Victorian architect Augustus Welby Pugin, it is lavishly decorated, with stained glass, painted walls and ceiling and a magnificent tiled floor, a classic example of Pugin’s eye for gothic design. The church has been featured in films and television, including the film Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The Friends of the Old Saxon Church have recently finished an extensive £40k conservation / restoration programme in the Drummond Chapel. A virtual tour can be seen on the website www.alburyoldsaxonchurch.org.
