Liskeard Unlocked - When Station Road Became THE Place To Live

Heritage Open Day: ‘When Liskeard Railway Station opened in 1859, Station Road became the Place to Live’-an exhibition at Liskeard & District Museum. The main railway line from Plymouth to Penzance opened in 1859, connecting Liskeard with London and beyond. This exhibition includes artefacts and photographs connected to the new Railway Station, as well as research into the occupants of the new family homes that sprung up along Station Road.
The opening of the main line and the station prompted the renaming of Lamellion Street to Station Road and the building of fine Victorian terraces along its route to the town centre, which can still be seen today.
