Heritage Open Day: Explore 1000 years of people, stories and art in the heart of Exeter at St Martins Church on the Cathedral Green Find out more about the many people (both known and unknown) that make up the history of this ancient church through guided tours and arts activities for children and adults.
First consecrated in 1065 by Bishop Leofric and dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, there are many people whose lives and memories are associated with this fascinating church and many faces can be seen on the walls today in the memorials and artwork, or imagined. Find out what connects all these people to St Martins and make your own connection to this ancient place.
The church has acted as inspiration in modern times to local artists and an artist will be there on the day to help you create your own work of art inspired by St Martin's.
