Goathurst Village Heritage Trail - Temple of Pan
Heritage Open Day: The Temple of Pan is part of the Goathurst Village Heritage Trail. The Temple of Pan was built as an ornamental folly as part of the landscape and gardens of the Halswell Park Estate in the 1770s. The Temple of Pan was build in the 1770s as a baroque folly and was probably one of the last follies to be built as part of Sir Charles Kemeys-Tyntes transformation of the landscape and gardens of Halswell Park. It is thought to be built by the architect John Johnson and was also known as the Bailiff's houses but may have been intended to be part residential.
