Sevington Victorian School
Heritage Open Day: Sevington School, near Chippenham, is a beautifully preserved Victorian village school used for educational visits to give children 'a day in the life of a Victorian child' experience. You can also enjoy this time capsule on Heritage Weekend. Sevington Victorian School is in the heart of the Wiltshire Countryside, four miles from J17 on the M4 close to Chippenham, Castle Combe and Malmesbury. It is a tiny village school built in 1849 by Joseph Neeld for the children of workers on the Grittleton Estate. It has one school room attached to the school mistress's house and garden. It closed in 1913 when just three pupils remained and the school was then rented out as a private residence by the Neeld family.
