The Masonic Hall
Heritage Open Day: The building was originally a girls' school. It was purchased by the Wiltshire Lodge of Fidelity in 1881 and has been the Masonic Hall since that time. A pair of adjoining cottages was later purchased to enable the Masonic Hall to be enlarged but the John Pearse, a Borough MP and Army Contractor, had the Hall built in 1819 and this served as a girls’ school for a number of years. In 1881 the old school was purchased for £166 and became the Devizes Masonic Hall and has been used for Masonic meetings since 1882. It has since been extended several times. A small exhibition of Masonic artefacts and regalia will also be displayed for those interested.
Members of the Lodges that meet there will be on hand to act as guides and answer any questions with regard to the building or Freemasonry in general
