Society of Friends (Quakers) Meeting House
Heritage Open Day: Quaker Meeting House, burial ground and garden, dating from 1700. Meeting House completed in 1706 on land given by Uttoxeter Quaker Robert Heath when he and his family emigrated to America. Burial ground, now lawned, and garden. All behind what was Robert Heath's dwelling house, now privately owned.one of the oldest buildings in Uttoxeter.
We will have an exhibition on Journeys, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Quakerism, George Fox. George Fox journeyed around Britain, and other countries, preaching. Uttoxeter Quakers made journeys around Britain and to America and their lives will be celebrated.
