Marton Museum of Country Byegones
Heritage Open Day: A museum of local rural artefacts developed from the collection made over many decades by George Tims, a village resident, who died in January 2005. An eclectic mix of artefacts showing how people lived and worked in the country. This small museum had been closed for some years following the death of its founder but is now being opened on Sunday afternoons during June, July, August and September by a group of volunteers who have been working on the cataloguing and preservation of the museum contents (well over 3000 to date). All of the exhibits were acquired locally and cover a wide variety of aspects of country life. The Museum will open on the 14th and 15th of September. 'Hands on' exhibits and demonstrations of corn dolly making, spinning and other local crafts will be on show. Homemade cakes and refreshments will be on sale in the pavilion
