Viking Raids at Polesworth Abbey
Heritage Open Day: Vikings raided Polesworth Abbey in 827, and they are back this year on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September. Vikings of Middle England provide Saxon/Viking Village activities and enact the raid and The Big Battle for Polesworth each day. Polesworth Abbey is open on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September for you to witness the Viking raids of 827 when radiers, who had overwintered at nearby Repton, descened on the Abbey. Vikings of Middle England will have set up a Saxon Village in the Abbey Cloister area with examples of Saxon life, tentmaking, coinmaking and weaponry. You'll be able to take part
