Galton Valley Pumping Station Open Day
Heritage Open Day: Take a walk along the Old Mainline canal off the Brasshouse Lane Bridge at Smethwick and explore this little pumping station, which operated to regulate the water levels between the two canals. With a walk to the Old Pumping station footings at 12 Galton Valley Pumping Station once regulated the water levels between the Old Mainline and New Mainline canals in Smethwick. It is now a small museums telling the story of life and work on the canals, canals in Smethwick and its own role as a Pumping station.
Take a walk along the canal and discover this fantastic little building along the towpath. There is a guided walk to the Old Engine House, which once houses the Boulton and Watt steam engine at 12 noon. No need to pre-book for tour, book on site. Free flow entry to engine house.
