About this Event
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Heritage Open Day: You are very welcome to come and look round the building and discover the church's beliefs, their involvement in world-wide humanitarian work, emergency preparedness and their expertise in family history. Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints first came to Bridlington in 1901. In the nineteenth/early twentieth century many members emigrated to Utah and it was not until the 1960s that a permanent branch of the Church was established in the town. Meeting in rented accommodation soon proved problematical and a search for a site on which to build a meeting house began. This culminated in 2004 with the opening of the present two-storey building in Quay Road, on the site of the former Lloyd's Hospital.
The building will be open 1000-1600 on two Saturdays, the 7th and 14th September with people available to help with any family history questions you may have. Car parking is available at the rear.
