Howdenshire’s Fascinating Archaeology
Heritage Open Day: Learn about the archaeology and history of local sites – from medieval manors to a Victorian corn mill. Join members of the Howdenshire Archaeological Society at this drop-in event.
Displays will show the nature of, and finds from, current and previous archaeological investigations - including West Cowick Windmill, work at Hook and on local moated manor sites. Talks, at 12.30 and 14.00, will include current excavations and medieval moated manor sites in East Yorkshire. You will have the opportunity of handling finds, finding out about archaeological techniques, and discussing excavation opportunities with our friendly members.
