TALK 6: Here be Dragons
Heritage Open Day: Here be dragons - A Virtual Tour of Holderness by Carol Osgerby Hull is often described as the end of the line, but in that case what is the land15-25 miles to the east? The end of the earth, perhaps? Holderness is a strange disappearing and reappearing place which has seen some unexpected visitors, a rural area that has fostered radical action. I will talk about how its geology gives Holderness its character, and has influenced its history, and recount some
incidents from that history. The talk will include a suggested itinerary of places to visit, and is part local history, part travelogue. Carol Osgerby is an amateur historian who, as a retirement project, has created a daily online calendar of historical events in Hull and East Yorkshire on social media.
