Explore New Park’s Hidden Heritage Centre

Heritage Open Day: This is a rare opportunity to explore the New Park Heritage Centre, hidden away within the grounds of New Park School. We are lucky enough to have Terry Williams, founder and energy behind the exhibition on hand to answer any questions and guide us. New Park was developed as an industrial suburb to Harrogate which grew along the main Skipton and Ripon Roads in the 1840s. It was the location of the town's gas and electricity works. Not only was there housing for the workers but a pub, shops, chapels, a school and an institute to serve the population - and a railway. The Heritage Centre was developed to celebrate New Park, its people and its history. Photographs, artefacts and a full size replica of the railway engine emerging from the tunnel are all on view. There are classroom zones, a laundry, street scenes, and much more.
